It is with great sadness that the DVCA would like to inform the wider DVCA community on the passing of our esteemed Life Member and former Umpires Secretary, Ian (Davo) Davidson after a brief battle with illness. Ian commenced umpiring back in 1987, and was the backbone of the Umpires Association for 30 years. In 1991, Ian took over the role of Secretary of Umpires Association from the then Secretary Kevin McCormick. During the next 26 seasons Ian was responsible for managing and looking after 40 – 50 umpires each year in making sure as many grades as possible had an official umpire each week. Sadly, Ian advised the Umpires Association at the end of the 2016/2017 season that he would be stepping down due to ill health and to spend some more time with his family. On behalf of the DVCA Executive, the Umpires Executive, Member Clubs, Players and Umpires we extend our sincere condolences to Jill and the Davidson family at this sad time. Funeral details will be forwarded to all clubs at a later date.
